SecondChance@NIST

As a group, we aim to support the residents in the Klong Toey Slums by helping them expand their business, since their current consumers are very limited as they are struggling to advertise their business. We will aid them by creating awareness at NIST (an international school) by purchasing and then selling their products here which will help them widen their customer base and therefore increase both their sales and profits. Additionally we partner with NISTLY Used to cut down on the wastage from NIST uniforms and the unsustainability that results from it by taking old uniforms and getting Second Chance BKK to upcycle them into beautiful products to be sold.

Feminist

pRICEless

To increase the quality of education at the Nongphainongwa Elementary School in the Roi Et province of Thailand by creating a sustainable organic rice partnership with the parent farmers of the school community. This small business will empower farmers and allow them to reinvest their profits into improving their agricultural practices and we use the profits to improve their school. By doing so, we also want to endorse the production and consumption of organic rice. We also want to help change their practices to benefit their environment, health and incomes.

Feminist

Helping Hearts

Our aim is to support children and families that live in a slum in Bangkok, to live a more comfortable and secure life.

CURED

Girlhood

Our mission is to raise awareness within our community to issues that impact the lives of girls locally and globally. The GirlHood NIST service group is designed to allow girls to use their voices to stand up for themselves around the world. Restore women’s dignity and self-esteem. The GirlHood support them on their personal health, hygiene and more.

We have established relationships with other Service groups to support their work in education and wellbeing e.g. IDC, Nightlight, Lotus.

Feminist

Friends ‘N’ NIST

To raise funds throughout the year via the NIST community to provide income to the underprivileged women in Cambodia. Additionally, we want to raise awareness about their Child Safe Alliance program and information linked to it.
Our project revolves around the key issue the social enterprise “Friends” is facing; issues with funding for the several projects they are a part of. Since NIST hosts many events and has potential outlets to sell products, we can use this as an opportunity to sell their products and earn those women a higher source of income, in comparison to what Friends earns in their shops.

Free to Be

The aim of this service group is to raise awareness about discrimination and mistreatment of the LGBTQI+ community, especially within NIST, as well as to create a safe space for those who identify as part of the LGBTQI+ community. We aim to have a digital and social presence to keep the NIST community informed of world movements and news but also involve our community to ensure there is a constant understanding and alliance between us all. Our key target is to educate the members of our NIST community, but also the regional community by integrating a higher degree of LGBTQI+ information into the curriculum and collaborating with other service groups and schools to hold various events and awareness raising campaigns.

Feminist

Dreams We Believe In

Our mission is to create an ongoing bond of friendship between the NIST community and the children living with HIV/AIDS through empathy and love, in order to fulfill their dreams and give them a sense of belonging.
