Job Summary

The PHE department at NIST is looking for an academic assistant to contribute to the Aquatics and PHE programme. A suitable candidate will adhere to the NIST PHE department philosophy to enhance mental, social and physical wellbeing through aquatics and swimming. The candidate will help organize classes, co-teach under the supervision of the PHE teacher, and engage positively with the students. In addition to a Thai PE certification, the ideal candidate will have an area of strength and expertise in aquatics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and co-teach during practical classes
  • Guide small groups of students during activities
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, caring, and positive learning environment
  • Follow school policies and procedures as applicable to academic assistants
  • Work in alignment with Director of Aquatics
  • Act in a professional manner in alignment with the NIST code of conduct
  • Encourage a culture of positive social interaction
  • Use knowledge of student development in making learning experiences meaningful and accessible
  • Show a willingness to learn about the content and methodology appropriate for their department
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to student needs
  • Support PHE class procedures in a positive manner that supports student learning
  • Undertake additional tasks as and when required

  • Be familiar with your child safeguarding policy
  • Be aware of abuse risks to children
  • Abide by the Code of Conduct
  • Be vigilant
  • Prevent abuse/protect children
  • Report concerns (mandatory duty)
  • Challenge poor practice/promote good practice

Qualification

  • Thai Nationality
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education
  • Have a valid Teaching License accredited by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand
  • Able to articulate clearly in English
  • Appropriate aquatics/swimming qualifications
  • Life Saving qualification (preferred)
